Please take a close look at the pictures.The poster will be sent in a heavy duty tube to insure it arrives safely. I have a picture of each corner where the push pins had originally held the poster up - placed on the extreme edges of the poster corners. All in all, the poster content is in excellent shape with no major creases, folds, or tape.

The only items on the poster itself are a crease on the lampshade (almost imperceptible) and a couple of tiny printing flaws (dust motes?). It has some wear on the poster edges, however if framed & matted most of the flaws will be covered by the matting. It measures 43-1/2' x 22'.This poster has been stored in a tube and I opened it after 30 + years to take the pictures you see. There is no copyright info on the poster, only the Maxell Cassette Tape and the words 'IT'S WORTH IT.' below it. It is printed on heavier stock paper with a matte finish (not glossy). The impact of the advertising campaign on popular culture still resonates today!You see a lot of these Maxell posters on eBay claiming to be the 'original poster' - most are NOT! This is the holy grail of the 'Maxell Blown Away' poster a first edition from a Maxell Distributor. The image became the de facto standard of those who believed their stereo equipment had sufficient power to move the mind and the soul. He is shown desperately clinging to the armrests but defiantly looking ahead at the source of the music through sunglasses. His hair and necktie, along with the lampshade to the man's right and the martini glass on the low table to the man's left, are being blown back by the tremendous sound from speakers in front of him - supposedly due to the audio accuracy of Maxell's product. The ads depict a man sitting low in a (Le Corbusier) high armed chair facing a JBL L100 speaker.

Steve Steigman was the photographer and Richard Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyries' was used for music for the US TV ads. The original campaign began as a trade ad in 1980 and was made into TV spots in 1979 which ran throughout the 1980s. Thank you.BACKGROUND: In the 1980s, Maxell became an icon of pop culture when it produced ads popularly known as 'Blown Away Guy' for its line of audio cassettes.
